About Him

USPA 97779

Started skydiving November 18th, 1970 at Turner Falls, Massachusetts. Static Line was the method of training used. His first jump went somewhat uneventful “except for his landing”!! He landed in the middle of the Connecticut River in knee-deep mud and water up to his neck. The radio didn’t work on this jump so his second jump was for free. This wet and muddy landing obviously did not discourage him as he currently (in 2004) has approximately 12,000 jumps. Scotty was taught by some of the best in the sport (back in the day). Scotty met Jerry Bird in 1971 in Z-Hills. Jerry soon became Scotty’s mentor while picking up his load organizing skills. Scotty is well known for his nonpolitical load organizing “as long as you are safe in the air you can get on his load”. If you are not safe, he will make an effort to get you safe then put you on his load. Scotty is infamous for his wild an crazy skydives such as; Hoop-Dives, Tube Dives, Raft Dives, Lingerie Loads, Nude Loads, 3-D Dives, and SCR Dives (Star Crest Recipient).

During his younger days, Scotty worked in New York City in Lingerie Sale (figures huh). He also worked many aspects of building and construction. He soon figured out that he wanted to spend more time at the Dropzone and less time working so…hence, here comes the Dropzone Chef. His thinking was “hey everybody needs to eat”! Scotty’s mother had taught him how to cook very early in life so all this came very natural to him. Scotty has maintained a very good reputation (for his DZ cooking that is) over the years. As far as his reputation goes for rest of his activity, there is not enough time or space to fill you in all the details.

In short, Skydiving, DZ Cooking and Organizing has been his forte’ for a long time running!!

Scotty met Tami at Coolidge, where Scotty provided Tami with coaching and got her in on her first functional RW big-way skydives. Since then, Tami and Scotty were married on August 9, 2002 at the W.F.F.C. & have teamed up to own and operate the Cut-Away Café and Flare-Wear together.
